CIVIS signed Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Nis. In order to establish a more permanent form of cooperation and aware of ideas and goals which realization they advocate for, Ms. Mirjana Prljević International Secretary General of Association CIVIS and Mr. Milos Simonovic, Mayor of the City of Nis signed today a Memorandum of Cooperation. Read more

Association CIVIS is going to attend the round table on “Public Private Partnerships as an instrument for resolving the emerging needs for social and public services”, which is organized by Grupa 484 with the support of UniCredit Foundation from Milan, in Belgrade November 11th 2010. Read more on official webpage

 

05. November 2010.
CIVIS is participating at the Working group session "Regional cooperation and international commitments“ of the National convention on European Union scheduled for November 8th 2010 in Belgrade. The topic for the II session of the working group is “From Bilateral Relations along Regional Cooperation to Membership in EU”. National convention on European Union is perennial project of the European Movement in Serbia aiming at institutionalization of a permanent body within which a permanent, thematically structured debate will be held between the representatives of the state administration, politicians, NGOs, experts, professional associations, and broader public on the future accession of Serbia to the EU. Read more on official webpage

 

01. November 2010.
Association CIVIS took part at the Sixth ECPD (European Center for Peace and Development) International Conference on “National and Inter-ethnic Reconciliation, Religious Tolerance and Human Security in the Balkans”, held in Brijuni Islands, Croatia, October 28-29, 2010. CIVIS Secretary General, Ms. Bojana Popovic gave paper presentation on the topic “Productive Inter-religious Dialogue – Contribution to the Human Security Concept Implementation in the Balkans”. 20. October 2010.
Association CIVIS has participated at regional conference on the ''Role of NGOs in combating corruption“ organized by United Nations, UN Development Programme Serbia, Transparency Serbia, and Transparency International. The conference is organized within the project “Strengthening Accountability Mechanisms in Public Finance Programme” which UNDP Serbia implements with the support of Government of Norway. Within the same project, UNP Serbia will launch a new open call for NGOs’ mini project proposals in November concerning the control of public finance spending. Examples and experience from the region – examples of good practices for NGOs in Serbia were presented at the conference.

 

06. October 2010. 
The autumn session of the INGO Conference will be held on the 6th October 2010. It will be possibly addressed by the President of the Parliamentary Assembly, Mevlüt Çavusoglu. During this session, the Conference will adopt the Proposal for a revised action plan for the Code of Good Practice for Civil Participation in the Decision-Making Process. It will also adopt the Annual thematic report of the Expert Council on NGO law.

 

22. June 2010.

His Holiness IRINEJ, Serbian Patriarch received today, in the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade, Mr. Boris Vukobrat, honorary president and founder of the CIVIS Association and president and founder of the Peace and Crises Management Foundation, with a delegation. Read more

Igman Initiative, one of the CIVIS Association founders and member, marks tenth year anniversary. XXI session of Igman Initiative will be held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on May 29th and 30th 2010  with the title “Ten Years of Normalization of Relations and ten Years of the Igman Initiative: RESUME OF RELATIONS IN THE REGION – BILATERAL RELATIONS AND REGIONAL COOPERATION”. CIVIS congratulates on this occasion!  Read more on its official website

CIVIS took part at the conference "Teaching Climate Change and the United Nations System” held at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade on May 17-18th 2010. Read more

 

11. May 2010.
Macedonia for the first time, after 15 years of membership, has taken over the chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. Macedonia will chair from May 11th 2010 till November 2010. Priorities of the Macedonian chairmanship are: (1) Strengthening human rights protection, (2) Fostering integration while respecting diversity, and (3) Promoting Youth Participation. 11. May 2010. 
Association CIVIS participates at the Conference “Accession of the Western Balkans to the EU – evaluating a process” which takes place in Dijon, France, from May 10th to 11th 2010. The conference is organized by Association Bourgogne Balkans Express. Read more

 

29. April 2010. 
Association CIVIS has signed Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Serbia. The Memorandum has been signed having in mind the interest for closer cooperation in order to improve protection of environment and advancement of citizens’ awareness regarding this issue. By signing MOU the role of non-governmental organizations in building democratic society and its contribution to environment protection is confirmed. Read more

26. April 2010.
The Association CIVIS signed together with another 187 non-governmental organizations the initiative for the diversification of the budget line 481, which provides the finances for the NGOs, political parties, and religious communities and sports associations. The Initiative requires from the Minister of Finance to reform the Chart of accounts so that the subsidies for the political parties, religious communities, sport associations and NGOs in the strict sense could be presented separately in the budget. This reform would assure better transparency of the budget processes and clearer insight of the taxpayers into the distribution of their means. Read more

 

15. April 2010. 
After perennial efforts of the civil society organizations to have government body for the cooperation with these organizations, the Government of the Republic of Serbia has decided to establish Office for the cooperation with civil society, which will work on permanent dialogue between state and non-governmental sector regarding the issues of general and common interest.

 

14. April 2010.
Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland is in official visit to Belgrade. Jagland will hold meetings with top government officials in Serbia to examine how to further reinforce relations with the Council of Europe. Head of the Serbian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Dragoljub Mićunović, will host Thorbjørn Jagland at working lunch.

 

24. February 2010.
Association CIVIS will participate at the conference “Serbia: A Step Closer to European Integration. Institutional Perspectives and Financial Instruments” on 25-26th of February, in Belgrade. The conference is organized by Italian Development Cooperation office to Serbia, Kosovo and Montenegro and the Belgrade branch of Italian Trade Commission - ICE. Read more
