THE ASSOCIATION CIVIS HAS SIGNED A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT AND SPATIAL PLANNING OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA

The Association CIVIS has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Serbia. The Memorandum has been also signed with another 119 NGOs, as a result of an initiative of the Bells Movement. On behalf of the Ministry, the Memorandum was signed by the Minister Oliver Dulic.

The Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning understood the importance of the establishment of closer cooperation with the civil sector in order to improve the quality of the environment and raise the awareness of the citizens. By signing of the Memorandum, the Ministry recognizes the role of the NGOs in the process of building of a democratic society, as well as their contribution in the protection of the environment.

Minister incited the organizations of the civil society to inform the Ministry about their activities and problems on the local level because the Ministry has no means of following everything. He also asked them to send their comments, suggestions and practical experiences to the Office „Let’s clean Serbia“, that exists as a part of the Ministry and that will ensure the communication between the Ministry and the NGOs. In the end, Minister invited all the organizations to take part in the big action of cleaning Serbia that will be held on the World Environment Day (the 5th of June).

Milos Djajic, the national coordinator of Bels Movement, addressed the guests on behalf of the NGO sector and 120 NGOs that signed the Memorandum. He declared that this partnership will contribute to the establishment of a dialogue about the preservation of the environment and that it would be a new impulse for building of democratic mechanisms in Serbia.
