THE FIRST EUROPEAN CENTER FOR PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT (ECPD) YOUTH FORUM - “YOUTH FOR MAINTAINING PEACE: THE ROLE OF KNOWLEDGE”
The European Center for Peace and Development (ECPD) of the University for Peace established by the United Nations, a unique educational and research institution with the Headquarters in Belgrade, within the Ninth ECPD International Conference organized the First Youth Forum – “Youth for Maintaining Peace: the Role of Knowledge“ on 12 October 2013 in Belgrade. It has been foreseen that the Forum will have annual meetings, each organized in one of the Balkan states.
The ECPD Youth Forum has been established with the aim to raise awareness of young people on the importance of post-conflict reconciliation and tolerance to building stable peace and sustainable development in this region.
The CIVIS Association participated in the first plenary session The Significance of Economics and Sustainable Development in Strengthening Peace and Security with the chosen topic “Strategic Approach to Local Challenges”.
The main purpose of the First Youth Forum was to detect the reflection of young people in the Balkans on reconciliation, tolerance and human security, as well as their visions about the future development of the Balkans.
The Forum co-chaired Prof. Dr. Darko Tanasković and Prof. Dr. Samir Banoob, where as Moderators were Prof. Dr. Ezio Benedetti, Prof. Dr. Vjekoslav Domjan and Hannah Kekäle, M.A.
