THREE ONE-DAY TRAININGS WITHIN THE PROJECT "MEET HUMAN RIGHTS FOR BETTER FUTURE“ WERE HELD IN KRAGUJEVAC, RACA AND ARANDJELOVAC
Project "Meet Human Rights for Better Future", which is intended for elementary school pupils of seventh and eight grades, Association CIVIS this year also implements in the Sumadija and Pomoravlje District.
This year the Regional Economic Development Agency for Sumadija and Pomoravlje and the Center for Professional Development of Education Personnel Kragujevac joined the project. The project was also supported by the Raca Municipality.
This project overall goal is rising awareness to elementary school pupils of seventh and eighth grades about universal human rights importance and their significance in everyday life so they can find the right way of responding to the challenges they are facing with. The project also includes representatives of the Youth’s Offices in the cities and municipalities mentioned above. The purpose of their engaging is to present them this kind of non-formal education, as well as promoting their activities to pupils in order to include new generations in their future work.
Trainers, Mrs. Tanja Sijakovic and Mrs. Isidora Korac, will hold one-day weekend trainings on the following topics: right to life, right to privacy, freedom of thought, conscience and religion, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, right to health protection, right to education; what are prejudices, stereotypes and discrimination.
On 6 April the first training was held in Kragujevac in the "Politehnicka School"; on 7 April in the Raca Municipality in the Elementary School „Karadjordje"; and on 13 April in the Arandjelovac Municipality in the Elementary School "Svetolik Rankovic". Pupils who participated were the representatives of Pupils’ Parliaments from these cities and municipalities.
In May trainings will be held on 18 and 19 May.
The project was, this year also, supported by the Embassy of Switzerland in Belgrade, and the Council of Europe donated materials for pupils.
