FIRST SEMINARS WITHIN THE PROJECT MEET HUMAN RIGHTS FOR BETTER FUTURE WERE HELD ON THE FRUSKA GORA MOUNTAIN
The first two seminars within the project Meet Human Rights for Better Future are were held on March 24-25th 2012 on the Fruška Gora Mountain. Pedagogues and the Council of Europe’s licensed trainers held two one-day seminars in the teaching-educational centre Norcev in Iriški venac for 50 pupils from Sombor elementary school “Avram Mrazović“ and 50 pupils from Novi Sad elementary school “Jovan Popovic“. On that occasion they discussed about the right to life, to privacy, freedom of thought, conscience and religion, freedom of expression, freedom of peaceful gathering, right to health care, right to education. Part of the seminar where pupils should recognize prejudices and stereotypes which they often face with on every day basis and ways to avoid them was especially interesting.
All the pupils will receive diplomas for an excellent seminar attendance and shown interest for this important topic.
Project Meet Human Rights for Better Future aims to raise awareness of 250 pupils of seventh and eighth grade from the City of Novi Sad, Sremska Mitrovica, Zrenjanin, Ruma, Sombor and Irig about the universal human rights importance and their significance in everyday life.
The project is being realized in a partnership with the Elektrovojvodina d.o.o. company which for the organizing seminars needs cede the teaching-educational center Norcev on the Fruška Gora Mountain. The project is supported by the Council of Europe and the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in Belgrade, so educational methodology and program for youth materials of the Council of Europe are used on the seminars. By the end of April one-day seminars will also attend pupils from the elementary school “Dositej Obradović” from Irig, “Ivo Lola Ribar” from Ruma, “Žarko Zrenjanin“ from Zrenjanin and “Sveti Sava“ from Sremska Mitrovica.
