START OF THE LARGEST REGIONAL CAMPAIGN
“MILLION SIGNATURES FOR RECOM”

With action called “Regional defrost" on Tuesday, 26 April at 11:55 pm at the Square of the Republic, as well as in Sarajevo, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Banja Luka, Priština, Skopje and Podgorica started the largest ever regional campaign, which will collect a million signatures in support of the RECOM, the Regional Commission for fact-finding on war crimes and other serious human rights violations committed since 1991. to 2001. in the former Yugoslavia.

The Coalition for RECOM is a non-political regional gathering of civil society organizations. It consists of a network of non-governmental organizations, associations, and individuals who represent and promote the Initiative for RECOM towards the establishment of a Regional Commission Tasked with Establishing the Facts about All Victims of War Crimes and Other Serious Human Rights Violations Committed on the Territory of the Former Yugoslavia in the period from 1991-2001 (RECOM).

Ten years since the end of armed conflicts in former Yugoslavia, neither one of the state finalized a list of those killed in the war, and more than 15,000 people are still missing. These and many other reasons cited more than several hundred organizations and individuals of all nations and religions from the former Yugoslavia, gathered in the Coalition for RECOM, to advocate for the creation of an independent intergovernmental commission as extra-judicial investigative body should indicate and publicly announce the facts related to recent war events. This year throughout June symbolic signatures of support, together with the Draft Statute of  the RECOM, will be delivered to all parliaments in the region, wich will be asked to establish the commission. You can give your signature at the official website www.zarekom.org, where you can find detailed information about the Initiative for RECOM.

So far, RECOM have been supported by the presidents of Croatia and Serbia, Mr. Ivo Josipović and Mr. Boris Tadić, Montenegrin Parliament, the European Commission and European Parliament, as well as many public figures in the region.
