THE PROJECT INTER-RELIGIOUS DIALOGUE AND PEACE IN THE BALKANS, 1990-2009

In the loop of its engagement in the field of inter-religious dialogue with the goal of improving the relations in the region of Southeast Europe, CIVIS Association has successfully finished the projectInter-religious dialogue and peace in the Balkans, 1990-2009 which has for its main activity a production of a TV show.

The project is realized under the auspices of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe and with the donation of the Swiss Peace and Crises Management Foundation.

This important TV serial with three episodes with the titles (1) The Waking up of the Balkans, (2) The Past is Warning (3) Faith, Hope, Love aims to point out the need for the dialogue of all citizens of our society with special retrospect on the role of inter-religious dialogue and its value for the society, for the individual, for the peace.

Exquisite commentators have brought out its opinions and standpoints: Ambassador of San Marino in the Council of Europe, in charge for issues of inter-religious dialogue, Mr. Guido Bellatti Ceccolli, eminent theorist of religion and professor at the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade, Prof. Dr. Darko Tanaskovic, President of Christian Cultural Center, Prof. Dr. Radovan Bigovic, President of the Protestant Church for Alsace, Augsburg and Loraine, Prof. Dr.  Jean François Collange, Bishop of Zahumlje and Hercegovina, Mr. Grigorije, Archbishop of Belgrade, Monsignor Stanislav Hocevar,  Rabbi Mr. Isak Asiel, Belgrade Mufti of Islamic Community of Serbia, Muhamed ef. Jusufspahic, and the main Mufti of Islamic Community in Serbia, Muamer ef. Zukorlic.

The author and moderator of the TV show Inter-religious dialogue and peace in the Balkans, 1990-2009 is Mirjana Prljevic.

This kind of TV show and with this topic has never existed before. In past 19 years, in Europe, many efforts have been done in order to find a key for understanding among members of different denominations, state and citizens. We are convinced that mistrust, which dominated for too long on this territory, has brought fear, and because of that a constant need to “eliminate” neighbor, and it is the cause of the anxiety. We believe that we should do everything in our power to have in the whole territory transparency, which would strengthen mutual trust. In the name of that we produced this TV serial, as a one step forward which leads us to become closer to ourselves.
